Hoodia Cactus Guide - Hoodia Cactus plant diet information | ||||
Hoodia Cactus - Trip to Africa by the BBCHoodia Cactus trip report - in May of 2003, BBC Two's Correspondent Tom Mangold went to Africa and tried the appetite suppressing Hoodia for himself and for a story for the BBC. It is predicted now, that the plant will probably make these poorest of people, the Kalahari bushmen, into millionaires.
Above: Hoodia Gordonii chips dried from the South African Hoodia cactus and tested in our hoodia manufacturing labs. The San Bushmen of the Kalahari are one of the world's oldest and most primitive tribes. They have been eating the Hoodia for thousands of years, to stave off hunger during long hunting trips. Obviously being hungry when scouring the primitive hot lands for live game and food can prove disastrous. It could distract from your concentration and cause you to miss that one shot at that one animal you might not see again for a week. South African scientists began testing the cactus and found out the plant contained a previously unknown molecule, which has since been named P 57. The license was sold to a Cambridgeshire bio-pharmaceutical company, Phytopharm, who in turn sold the development and marketing rights to the giant Pfizer Corporation. This website has 77+ pages of information on Hoodia Gordonii and how it will definitely make you lose weight. If your tired of reading and just want to order some visit these companies. They seem to have the best deal. I ordered mine on Monday and had it sent overnight. Started taking Hoodia on Tuesday night and didn't eat again until Friday night at a late party. I wasn't really hungry then but I didn't want to be rude at my wife's get together. Anyway I have been taking the Hoodia Gordonii for 2 months now and the results are incredible. I only eat when I want to now, and at special events, because I really have no appetite to speak of. The plant is so strong it even takes away your thirst, so make sure and drink lots of water! It feels pretty cool not being controlled by stomach pains. Tom Mangold travelled to the Kalahari and met San bushmen families. Communication took place via an interpreter whcih took 5 days to locate. They are a discontented, impoverished and displaced people, and at the time were unaware they are sitting on top of a goldmine. Now that Hoodia has taken off and is proven to work the 90,000 or so San Bushmen, living along the edge of the Kalahari are set to become overnight millionaires. They are due royalties negotiated by their South African lawyer Roger Chennells. And you thought all lawyers were bad. Over 40% of the English speaking world is overweight. NO bushmen has ever been found to have more than 11% body fat. Eating for them is just no big deal due to the Hoodia effects. P57 process - Within the middle section of your brain, the hypothalamus, there are nerve cells designed to sense glucose sugar. After eating your blood sugar levels go up, these cells are activated and you "feel full". This is when many people stop eating, while others eat even more, unitl they feel "stuffed". The Hoodia contains molecules that are about 7,000 times as active as glucose. So when you take it your brain cells are activated as if you had just eaten a large meal. All this without eating anything other than a small piece of the cactus flesh or a commercially made product containg pure hoodia. You have no appetite whatsoever. In clinical trials, rats, a species that will typically eat literally anything, stopped eating completely. Other animals have responded likewise, though carnivores seem to have a greater effect than vegetarians or herbivores. The first human clinical trial was conducted using morbidly obese people who were isolated and allowed only to read, watch television, and eat through out the day. Half used Hoodia, half were given a placebo or "fake" pill. After two weeks, the Hoodia group had reduced their intake by 1050 calories a day average. This proved to be the catalyst to todays production of what will prove to be the single greatest diet pill ever created.
