Hoodia Gordonii Guide - Hoodia Cactus plant and seed sales and growing information

Hoodia Seed

Hoodia Seed - how to get it, grow it, reproduce it. The Hoodia Gordonii plant takes years to grow, is rare, and until recently only grew in the wild. Lately, a number of growers have set up farms and commercially develop the rare plant. This proved to be the only way to provide sustainable quantities of the material to consumers. If you haven't tried the product for weight loss then see our Hoodia Sales page for a real treat. Hoodia Gordonii is a leafless, spiky succulent cactus that grows naturally in South Africa and is now being farm raised in the United States in anticipation of the HUGE advertising push that will begin by the owners of SlimFast in the year 2007. There are over 40 species of Hoodia but only 2 that contain enough of the appetite suppressant known by some as P 57 to be of any value.

HoodiasUSA is the only US based grower of real South African Hoodia and sells hoodia plants and seeds. If you want to lose weight these plants take a little work to clean for chewing, but they do suppress the appetite. If you are a grower and want to get in on making the big money that is coming from natural Hoodia wholesalers buying up everything they can get thier hands on, then buy some plants now. If you plan on using Hoodia long term like the Sans Bushmen do for appetite control they are perfect as well but you will need to buy a few of them and reproduce them. Make sure to buy the big ones like the 8 or 9" if they have them.

Below is one US based growers strategy for using hoodia seed to grow the plant, reap raw hoodia fiber for using in diets, harvest more seeds and repeat the process. This may prove to be one of the most profitable, small farm compatible, fully sustainable, crops in history.

1. First I get some tweezers, a spoon, a spray bottle, the Schultz Cactus soil, some clean, dry, red sand (like the kind used in a playground), a bottle of bleach, deionized-filtered water, a large glass bowl, a small plastic dish (shaped like a pie tin), and finally a Glad zipable plastic freezer bag big enough to fit the small plastic dish.

2. I fill one side of my sink with warm soapy water and two cups of bleach. The bleach will kill all kinds of pathogens, whether fungal or bacterial. I then proceed to wash the large glass bowl, the plastic dish, and the tweezers, in the warm bleach water. Afterwards, I let them sit in the bleach water for half an hour and then I let them drip dry. While I am cleaning the "Hardware", I place an adequate amount of cactus soil in the glass bowl and spray in enough of the deionized-filtered water to moisten the soil without over soaking it. The glass bowl is then placed in the microwave for as long as it takes for it to come out piping hot and steaming (usually about five minutes). Now, let the soil cool down for a while.

3. When the soil has been properly "sterilized", I begin placing it in the small plastic dish with the spoon. I give the soil a depth of about 1 inch evenly throughout the dish. I thoroughly spray the soil down with new deionized- filtered water, so that the soil is moistened again, but not enough for the water to collect on top. I then place the Hoodia seeds on top of the soil in rows about 1 inch apart with the tweezers. I make sure to gently push them into the soil a little bit, but not enough to bury them. I then take red sand that I have sterilized in the same way as the soil, and sprinkle it liberally on top of the seeds and soil with just enough sand to lightly cover everything. Once again, I spray the top of the sand with just enough deionized-filtered water so that it is moist without being soaked.

4. Lastly, I take one of the freezer bags and write down the date on the label. I then place the plastic dish with its seed and soil load into the bag and seal it carefully so as to not spill any of the dished contents. I now have a miniature greenhouse that is sealed off to the world, and which contains a perfect amount of moisture. This is placed about 1 foot under a 150 watt gro-light in a terrarium (my old fish tank) which is kept between 75-85 degrees with a reptile heat pad. Just like you, I use timers with the lamp and heat pad to keep a light cycle of 16 hours on/ 8 hours off. I also have a thermometer in the terrarium which always reads between 75 (when the light and pad are off) and 85 degrees (when the light and pad are on).

In the wild, the Hoodia seedlings do not have to worry about fungal attacks because it is too dry and too warm for any fungus to live in the kind of environment that hoodia thrives in. Unfortunately, in a "wetter' environment, fungus is a real threat, so I am usually forced to use a fungicide like Ortho's Daconil which kills a wide variety of fungi and works great. By artificially keeping the young seedlings constantly moist and yet root rot free, and by keeping them at their ideal light and heat requirements, my seedlings grow super fast! I can get them to grow at least 1 inch tall in as short a time as 1 month from germination.

The gibberellic acid is also useful for speeding up initial seed sprouting and growth as well as regular growth and flowering! This is the same plant hormone that is naturally found in the seeds of all plants. When the right conditions for a plant's germination is met, there is an increase in gibberellic acid production which in turn causes the new plant to sprout. If conditions are not right, the seed will not germinate because not enough Gibberellic acid is present to get things going. Artificially upping the quantity of Gibberellic acid present leads to almost a 100% seed germination rate, and forces the seedlings to grow faster and leads to more robust growth! I love this stuff, it works great and I've been using it for about 3 years now! Very few people know about it, and it's probably not available at your local nursery. I only know about it because of my extensive research into plant growth factors. You should get some and try it out, I bet you'll love it as much as I do! It is available online from a company found here - Super-grow Scientific Plant Products: Super-Grow takes plant care to a new level with lab-tested natural plant care products. They also sell a bunch of other plant products that I've tried, but this one is without a doubt my very favorite because it works so well. With this stuff I can force all the seeds I plant to germinate, I can force the plants to grow much faster than normal, I can force the plants to flower much sooner than normal, and I can force them to produce more seed pods (fruit) than normal which means a bumper crop of seeds is produced! By the way, cactus juice does work well but this Gibberellic acid is even better. Imagine if you use both what will happen!

This website has 77+ pages of information on Hoodia Gordonii and how it will definitely make you lose weight. If your tired of reading and just want to order some visit these companies. They seem to have the best deal. I ordered mine on Monday and had it sent overnight. Started taking Hoodia on Tuesday night and didn't eat again until Friday night at a late party. I wasn't really hungry then but I didn't want to be rude at my wife's get together. Anyway I have been taking the Hoodia Gordonii for 2 months now and the results are incredible. I only eat when I want to now, and at special events, because I really have no appetite to speak of. The plant is so strong it even takes away your thirst, so make sure and drink lots of water! It feels pretty cool not being controlled by stomach pains.
